Ready and Waitin'

It's official...I'm beginning my days in the exciting world of blogging! You might wonder why I'm taking the plunge, so here are a few things about me and a preview of "Whitney's Classic Comments" that you don't want to miss:

If you ask what two things I can't live without, I'll tell you that's an easy question--agriculture and people. Maybe my answer is too broad for you, but these two things are constanly making a significant impression on my life. I know for a fact they're making an impact in your life too, whether you recognize it or not.

So if it weren't for the lessons I learned growing up with livestock and building relationships with friends and family, I wouldn't be here today. By here, I mean going down this exciting black and gold road at the University of Missouri. My love for agriculture and people drove me to study agricultural journalism and agricultural economics.

The academic benefits at Mizzou are great, and the environment is even better. With a long family history of MU alums, I was born a Mizzou Tiger. I grew up cheering for the Tigers at football and basketball games with my family, so I love every minute I get to show my school spirit!

The College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR) is providing today's students with endless opportunities. I need to give a "shout out" to CAFNR Career Services for helping me network with Monsanto.

The connection has proven to be beneficial, because a week from today I'll be with Monsanto at the 2008 Commodity Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. My goal is to give you a front seat view of the conference from my perspective. I'll be taking it all in and posting stories, audio, and pictures for your viewing pleasure!

I'm looking forward to keeping you up-to-date with the events, and I'd love to read your comments on my posts.

So buckle up, because here's your chance to ride shot-gun for my Commodity Classic experience!
